The Importance of Documenting Your Hours

Even if you don't have records, you can still take action if your employer is not paying overtime in New Jersey. The law requires employers to keep accurate records of employees' work hours and wages. If you suspect your employer is violating overtime laws, start by documenting your hours to the best of your ability. Write down your work schedule, including start and end times, and breaks. Make sure to include all the hours you work, even if you are not being paid for the time. Emails and text messages that would show how much you worked can also be relevant.
